It’s been such an unusual week, filled with good news, and horrific news. My youngest brother had successful heart surgery yesterday. 26 seems awfully young to have a mechanical valve put in. That whole thing came about really suddenly, which made it stressful for the whole family, but things have settled a bit now that everything went well.
At the same time that I found out about my brother’s heart, a friend of mine was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was told she has 1-3 years left. Not only is it unfair because shes only 40, but she is such a sweet person. Needless to say, those two things will stop you in your tracks and put your life into perspective. My brain literally didn’t know how to process those events. I think I was in shock for a whole day.
This morning I came across this photo I took back around Christmas. It was a reminder that sometimes we need to stop, smile, and appreciate what we have. I know its challenging to remember sometimes, so its helpful if you come across a random smiley face like this one.
