I’m finishing up another article today for IPS. This one is focusing on using Snapseed’s tools creatively. It forced me to use some features that I rarely use, such as grunge. That led to me trying it on a few recent images, and I thought it worked well with this one.
I have a lot of respect for people that can use textures to enhance their images. A lot of times, using textures comes across as trying to cover up a mediocre image. Don’t forget, photography comes first!
There is a local guy in Ashland, named Lewis Anderson, who creates fantastic fine art photos, with textures. I’ve talked shop with him a few times, when I saw him at the Ashland Art Center, and I found out that he uses an insane amount of textures on his images. We’re talking like 20+ layers of textures. I hesitate to share a link to his work, because it is so much better in person.
Do you need more incentive to come to Ashland? Fine. Sometimes Sean Bagshaw’s work is up right next to Lewis’s. Oh, and across the room, you’ll find Deb Harder and David Lorenz Winston’s amazing images. So much talent in the Rogue Valley!
I need to go check out some more local art this weekend 🙂
