Yesterday was a real treat. I met up with Egmont van Dyck, Meri Walker, Ali Jardine, and Stan Phillipe in SF. I had never heard of any of these awesome people, other than Egmont, until a couple days ago. Together, we explored every nook and cranny in Chinatown. Surprisingly, we only got scolded by one angry Chinese man.
I’ve never done a photowalk with other iPhoneographers before, and it was a lot of fun. If you have the opportunity, seize it. Shooting alongside this group of mobile artists was practically like attending a workshop. Actually, given everyone’s experience, I’m sure we could all lead our own. In fact, Meri does. I’m not a street photographer by any means, but I feel like I learned a lot on this outing.
An amazing thing happens when you gather alongside other talented people, at least for me. I develop a healthy bit of competitiveness to push myself to get better shots and create something more interesting than I would if I were on my own. Not for bragging rights, but to prove that I belong in that class of talent.
This image was created using an iPro super wide angle lens, snapseed, and blendtexture. Blendtexture is cool, but the resolution leaves something to be desired.
