Looking at this image now, I wish I had taken a few more shots with different compositions. I’d like to see less foreground and more sky, with the horizon lower in the frame. At the time, it was a race against the light. The sun was going down as we piled out of the car. There was also a fight for a good spot with a clear shot because someone was leading a workshop out there with 3 or 4 students. Plus the rocks I was walking on were very slippery. I nearly fell a few times, so I didn’t want to move too much to set up different shots. We’ll say it was less than ideal conditions, but challenges are good. I don’t want to get comfortable and lazy.
Shot with my Nikon D7000 with an 11-16mm Tokina. This image was created by manually blending multiple exposures in photoshop, then using plugins and luminosity masks. I can’t remember the shutter speed for all 3, but the longest was 30 seconds.
